The 12th Annual Capital District Steps2Cure NF Walk

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder of the nervous system that can cause tumors to form on nerves anywhere in the body at any time. NF affects people of all races, ethnic groups and both sexes, and can occur either through inheritance from a parent or as a spontaneous genetic change.

NF may be associated with hearing loss, vision impairment, epilepsy, learning disabilities, bone abnormalities and, in some cases, cancer. Despite affecting a significant number of people, many have still never heard of neurofibromatosis, which is why awareness is so important.

Steps2Cure NF is a series of community fundraising walks dedicated to raising awareness and supporting individuals and families affected by NF. These events bring together individuals, families and teams in a shared mission to fund research, expand support programs, strengthen advocacy and help spread the word about NF.

NF Northeast is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the lives of those affected by neurofibromatosis and related disorders through education, advocacy, community support and the advancement of scientific research.

With every step, every donation and every conversation, participants help keep hope alive and move closer to the ultimate goal: effective treatments and, one day, a cure for neurofibromatosis.
